1766 Ag - Creating Legacy Through Ag
What does Legacy mean? The Oxford Dictionary states: “the long-lasting impact of particular events, actions, etc. that took place in the past, or of a person’s life.”
When we were looking for a name for the farming operation, I knew I wanted something that would tell a story, something that was catchy but also left you wondering. “1766 Ag” was born, our tagline: “Creating Legacy Through Ag.”
259 years ago, in 1766 Heinrich & Regina Steiff and their 7 sons immigrated to Hillsborough, New Brunswick. Later changing their name to ‘Steeves’.
Today, Rosalie, our three kids and I continue their legacy. Our kids are the 4th generation of Steeves to live on our farm. Trying to leave a long-lasting impact on our friends, neighbors, family, customers and fields.
Looking into 2025, we are ramping up for seeding, floating, spraying. Booking our seed and finalizing crop rotations – all while watching what’s happening south of the border! We’re 90-100 days away from wheels rolling!!
Partnering with companies like AgTek360. I’m excited to bring these products to West Central Alberta. New technology from companies like Green Lightning Nitrogen is a product we’re really diving into too.
We’ve been looking at making some equipment upgrades as well, diving into John Deere Operations Center has opened my eyes to the power of data. What data can we provide our customers and landowners that will help them continue their legacy on their acres. We want to get better at this moving forward.
Lastly, we’re still looking for more acres, whether custom, crop share, rented ground, or new products and services we’re looking for opportunities to grow 1766 Ag. Please reach out if you would like to chat, all conversations are held with utmost confidentiality.
Here’s to another year of creating legacy,
Kevin
